Multi-instrumentalist, producer and engineer Randy Hiatt is the driving force behind Music by Accident, who are based in Lynnwood (Seattle), Washington. A longtime veteran of the music scene, Randy loves nothing more than collaborating with other musicians on his myriad projects. While Music by Accident is comprised of his frequent bandmates, Randy also regularly creates music via the internet and other remote means with people all over the world.
Being an XTC fan, Randy heard about Dave Gregory doing some string arrangements for Porcupine Tree songs and decided to give them a listen. He liked what he heard so much that Music by Accident began playing some Porcupine Tree songs for fun. It wasn't long before they were recording them and looking for a place to put them online, and so the idea for the Porcupine Tree covers page came into being.
Randy joined forces with Melinda Wells in late 2002 to create the covers page on the web and set about finding other artists to contribute their cover versions of Porcupine Tree songs to the page.
Music by Accident have recorded songs by Camel and Kevin Gilbert in addition to their own material. More detailed info is available on the Music by Accident website.
