Polish band Cabaret currently consists of members Jaroslaw (Jarek) Pawlik and Michal Bieniek.
Originally formed in 1996, Jarek began to make some headway in 2000 after lineup changes and some down time. That year, two tracks (one cover and one original) appeared on Mode in Poland, a Depeche Mode tribute album, which became album of the week on polish Radio 3. This in turn created a number of new opportunities for Jarek. 2001 was a busy time of doing remixes for Balcan Electrique and Robert Gawlinksi, among other projects.
In October 2001, Jarek began recording Cabarets first demo single/sampler, Check Point Charlie Berin Wall. In addition to the title track, a piece of music written as a tribute to the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001 was also included on the CD. The CD was released in March 2002, and soon after, Michal Bieniek became a member of the band. An EP of demos entitled Nicole was recorded by Jarek and Michal which was well-received by fans and media alike.
As 2002 came to a close, Jarek and Michal had begun work in earnest on a full-length, professionally recorded album. Throughout 2003 there were more remixes for other artists in addition to working on the studio album, which is set to be released in 2004.
